Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first Fall Classic since 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS.
Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player anywhere that I want up in that spot besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Wilson said "there's no question that it's painful" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work this season.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.
Toronto secured the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
