Wilfried Nancy declared he did not fear dismissal, asserting, “The team is really close to things turning around,” in the wake of edging perilously close to the chopping block with a comprehensive loss to their arch-rivals.

A Second-Half Meltdown Leads to Old Firm Loss

Celtic had led the visitors at half-time but a second-half capitulation let Danny Röhl’s team to draw level on points with the defending league title holders. The former MLS manager, who was hired from the MLS, has now overseen six setbacks in his last eight matches.

“There is unity at the club,” insisted Nancy.

Pressed on whether he was concerned, Nancy replied: “I don’t think about it. My focus is on working out methods to get the team to excel on details.

Focus on the Details

Nancy remains focused on the fact Celtic can perform strongly for 45 minutes at a time. In fact, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they could have been more than 1-0 up. “I saw enough aside from the fact that we haven’t scored more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but it's important to stay balanced.

“The standard we had at times was of top quality. That happened. And I would not speak so positively if it was untrue. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I noted we've seen this before. For that reason I feel we are really close to things turning around. Currently: the fine margins.”

“I saw many, many good things that we did, like today again. However is consistency. My message would not be if it was not the case. Therefore I am a big believer we will manage to get back on track.”

Röhl’s Cautious Outlook

Danny Röhl was cautious about a championship push despite what seemed like a landmark win. “One match at a time, and we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The belief in the team is immense.”
