England Bowling Consultant Southee Uncertain on Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was against England in December 2024.
England bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be present for the opening match due to his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which starts on December 2 in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, assumed a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as England's squad for the opening of three T20 matches against New Zealand was announced, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
England bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which starts on November 21.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee said.
"Our focus is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [England's] team that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
However, before England head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
