Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.

American performer Finn, who was seen in popular programs such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.

Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his three kids, and his family.
