Supporters Urge Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who jumped a fence and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was set to be present on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram account includes clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney show in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Several supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another response on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was approached by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The film, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a dual version of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of 2024 in the UK, and received a dozen Academy Award nods, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
