The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The song showcases a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
